Description
Working with a trained, on-site American foreman supplied by Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, IL each team of 10-12 people will continue working on the next stages of construction project begun by previous teams. Team leaders will receive briefing prior to travel from construction foreman so that team can bring any needed equipment and know what to expect with the next segment of the construction. In all, this project will require approximately 12 teams to complete the work in the six months allotted.
Desired Results
As a result of these construction teams, the Lutheran school will be build to specifications, on time and within budget. The congregation will have a school building with four classrooms, a teacher's lounge, administration office and necessary retaining walls. As a result of the school building and school, the congregation will have a needed service to offer the community and an effective way to reach out to children and their families with the Gospel. The school buildings can also be used for other ministries such as Sunday school, VBS programs, etc. During rest times and down times, team members are encouraged to play with local children who will eventually be served by the school in order to build relationships that can help the congregation demonstrate care and love for the children.
Skills Needed
Some experience with construction helpful and depending on stages of project the following team members may be needed: electrician, plumber, contractors knowledgeable about concrete work and carpentry. NOTE: The project foreman will help each team determine the ideal makeup based on estimated stages of construction for the time frame your team chooses to participate. Teams can include eight to ten people.
